Humble Badian

Badian is situated in the southwestern coast of Cebu and is about 97 kilometers from Cebu City. The municipality is bounded on the north by the municipality of Moalboal, on the east by the municipalities of Dalaguete and Argao, on the south by the municipality of Alegria and on the west by Tañon Strait.

According to CebuDaily.com, Badian is a 4th class municipality in the province of Cebu, Philippines. It is bounded on the north by the municipality of Moalboal, on the east by the municipalities of Dalaguete and Argao, on the south by the municipality of Alegria and on the west by Tañon Strait. The name “Badian” was derived for the plant called “Badyang” which used to be abundant long ago. In due time, the name “Badyang” was applied to the whole community. For convenience, since the Spaniards found it difficult to pronounce the name, they dropped the “G” and changed “Y” to “I”, thus the name “Badian.”

More than anything else, Badian has become known because of its two nature-given attractions, the Kawasan Falls in Matutinao and the world famous Badian Island Resort. Kawasan Falls, adjudged to be the cleanest river system in the Philippines, extends its mystic aura to local and foreign visitors alike, never failing to soothe people on its deep cool crystal-clear waters surrounded by tall and huge trees. Call it the extra-abundance of negative ions, but the Kawasan Falls has always been a means of natural complete relaxation to anyone that goes there.

The mountainous route from Cebu’s eastern town of Dalaguete which starts at Mantalongon and then traverses the scenic peaks of Alegria and Badian going to the west that finally winds down and ends up at Kawasan’s highest waterfalls, is a favorite for treksters all over the place.

The Badian Island Resort, on the other hand, has become part of the world’s tourist destination network and images of its white sandy beaches are plastered all over the Internet.

The natural beauty of the Badian Island Resort and Spa in Cebu, Philippines warmly embraces its visitors on their arrival. Here, the resort’s lush palms speckle the private sandy beach that slowly slips into the azure lagoon. A white tongue of sand whisks you out into an inspiring world between heaven and ocean. Fishing outriggers slip silently past the enchanting silhouette of the Mountains of Cebu, an atmosphere worth more than ten thousan words.
